THE PROGRAMME: STABAT MATER
The Stabat Mater is one of the few sacred works composed by Antonín Dvořák. It is an outstanding masterpiece where powerful tutti, with accents of Orthodox liturgy, alternate with large-scale and highly contrasting solo and polyphonic sections. The choir and soloists are accompanied by a large symphony orchestra offering a rich palette of instrumental colours.
This work is familiar to La Badinerie. The mixed choir of Louvain-la-Neuve La Badinerie has recorded it on a double CD and has performed it on numerous occasions since 1998.

SOLIDARITY, A FORCE THAT MOVES MOUNTAINS
La Badinerie is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the choir, and has chosen to support Casa for Life.
A non-profit organisation based in Gembloux, Casa for Life works in Casamance, in the south of Senegal. The projects in place respond to the needs expressed by the local people themselves, and are in line with objectives of sustainable development: autonomy for women and marginalised people, health, access to water, energy saving, strengthening local infrastructure, and local, sustainable market gardens. Achievements include the building and equipping of two new -- and the renovation of existing -- maternity wards; the re-launch of a number of market gardens etc. The proceeds of this concert will go to providing basic equipment for some ten small maternity wards in the Diouloulou area.
